Coming from the demand of youth awareness on Industrial Revolution 4.0, Research and Development Division of International Relations Student Associations (HIMAHI) Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, will be holding an event, International Relations Championship (IRON 2018). This event has three competitions and one of them is Debate.

Registration and Payment Mechanism
This competition will use “Asian Parliamentary System” with characteristics below:
1. Two teams: Government Team and Opposition Team.
2. Government team must argue in favor with the motion while opposition team must argue against the motion.
3. Every team consist of three speakers with their own roles.
4. Roles of Speakers: Prime Minister:
- All students with active ID cards of their respective educational institutes (both public and private High School or Varsity students) are allowed to participate in Debate Competition IRON 2018.
- One eligible educational institution may send maximum TWO TEAM PARTICIPANTS.
- School and university affiliated with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta are allowed to join this event as well as this debate competition.
Registration and Payment Mechanism
- Registration for this event can be done by downloading the registration form below and submit the form to our email: [email protected] NO LATER than September, 13th 2018 with Competition_Name_University/High School as the subject format (ex: Debate_Aulia Sandi_UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta)
- After registration form is submitted, payment of registration fee: Rp. 275,000.- can be done to Bank Account (0691659534 Bank BNI a/n Shindy Ervianti)
- Each team who has paid the registration fee should send the scan or photo of their payment receipt and the scan or photo of their student card to: [email protected] with the subject Competition_Name_University/High School (ex: Debate Confirmation_Aulia Sandi_UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta)

- Set-up context, goal, definition of each part of motion. •
- Present position and case.
- Make arguments supporting the position. Leader of Opposition:
- Respond to definition and set -up from affirmative team.
- Present position and counter -case.
- Rebut affirmative team case.
- Make arguments supporting the position.
- Clarify and defend team’s argument
- Rebut arguments made by first speaker from first negative team
- Make arguments supporting the position
- Clarify and defend team’s argument
- Rebut the arguments made by the affirmative so far
- Make arguments supporting team position Government Whip:
- Rebut arguments made by the Negative team so far
- Summarize briefly the debate including present key point of clash
- Extend the key arguments that have been advanced by team with supporting example
- Rebut arguments made by the Affirmative team so far
- Summarize briefly the debate including present key point of clash
- Extend the key arguments that have been advanced by team with supporting examples
- No new matter/argument is allowed
- Provide the summary of the overview of the debate
- Identify the issues raised by both sides
- Provide a biased adjudication of the debate
- No new argument and rebuttal, just map out the issue that has been discussed and explain why his team’s case is better.
